Common themes heard over the two days revolved around Milliken’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, such as:

Strengths:  small town atmosphere and social relationships, productive agricultural land, low median housing prices, beautiful natural setting, abundant land supply, strong local workforce, growing opportunity to capture economic growth of the Denver metropolitan area.

Weaknesses: Insufficient sewer and water utility services, Downtown not a vibrant center, general lack of retail, restaurants and services, insufficient public amenities and activities, limited types of housing available.

Threats:  Competition for limited Town resources, heavy truck traffic through the center of town, regional competition for market share, long-term fiscal health, rising construction costs (public + private), lack of safe pedestrian movements- particularly for  school-age children, regional market competition.

Opportunities:  Historic and cultural resources, Downtown, agricultural production, potential trail system, Enterprise Zone, railroad access
